How to use Mini Blinds to Create the Perfect Light
Window blinds are loved by people from all over the world, who appreciate their modern appearance and flexible style. In contrast to curtains, awnings, and other window coverings, blinds are easier to manipulate to create custom lighting conditions. While curtains can be moved from open to closed positions and anywhere in between, window binds are much more flexible. The degree of flexibility offered by blinds is dependent on the type of blinds in question, with vertical and horizontal styles having different mechanisms of operation. Along with Venetian blinds, cellular blinds, and vertical blinds, mini blinds are one of the most popular styles in the 21st century. Mini blinds are a particular type of horizontal blind that utilise small aluminium or plastic slats which can be rotated in order to manipulate the light coming into a room.
Mini blinds are held together with string or cord and are installed on the inside of a window. Named for their small size, the individual slats used in mini blinds are normally less than half the width of traditional wooden Venetian blinds. While sizes of the slats do vary, most products range between 15mm and 25mm. In most other ways, mini blinds are identical to normal horizontal blinds, using a similar mechanism for lowering and raising the strings and rotating the slats to different positions. However, mini blinds can also be identified in terms of the materials that are used in their construction, especially considering the introduction of lightweight aluminium actually fuelled the growth of mini blinds in the 1970s.
Mini blinds remain popular today for a number of reasons, not the least of which is their ability to create a variety of different lighting conditions. They differ from other styles of horizontal blinds in the size of the slats used and the construction of the slats themselves, which has an effect on the creation of the ideal lighting condition. With mini blinds, the horizontal slats are held one above the other much like the rungs of a ladder, and secured to a fabric or rope cord. Mini blinds can be easily manipulated to open and closed positions, along with a number of variations in between. By using a tilt wand, mini blinds enable users to customise a variety of lighting and privacy settings, so users can create the perfect light no matter what the time of day or the situation.
