The company was founded (as Multicell Associates Inc.) in 1995 by the late Hugo Jauregui, Alfred Vasconcellos, Pierre Galletti and Jayanta Roy Chowdhury. In 2001, the company was acquired by Exten Industries, Inc. MultiCell is a public Rhode Island-based cell technology company which trades on the OTC Electronic Bulletin Board under the symbol MCET.OB.
MultiCell’s majority-owned subsidiary, Xenogenics Corporation, is developing the Sybiol® biosynthetic liver device that utilises MultiCell’s proprietary, immortalised human hepatocytes.
