The company was incorporated as American Medical Research, Inc. in 1965 and changed its name to DIAGNOSTIC, INC. in 1968. In 1987 the company changed to its present name and acquired the hydroxylapatite technology (OrthoMatrix, Inc. of Dublin, California). In 1999, the Sustain® Dental Implant System was acquired and HAPSET® Hydroxylapatite Bone Graft Plaster established. The CAPSET® Bone Graft Barrier was introduced four years later. In the following years several subsidiaries were established and agreements renewed. The company is FDA registered and is ISO9001 and EN46001 certified. The company is traded at the NASDAQ exchange trade under the symbol LCBM.

Titanium-based dental implants used in tooth replacement therapy: RENOVA™ Internal Hex Implant System, RESTORE® External Hex Implant System, STAGE-1™ Single Stage Implant System CAPSET® Calcium Sulfate Barrier and TefGen Regenerative Membranes™ are products to regenerate tissue which preserve the bony architecture for optimal implant placement. A microbial fermentation process delivers hyaluronan (sodium hyaluronate, hyaluronic acid), which does chemically not differ from the human hyaluron (Healon®). Hyaluronan is a substance that is widely spread in the extracellular matrix of connective tissues. Its viscous and elastic properties make it a useful tool for internal surgical applications. LIFECORE’s hyaluronan is also used as a medical device coating, in veterinary products, in orthopaedic applications and as a surgical adhesion prevention solution.
