Dr. Suwelack Skin & Health Care AG
Product concepts for health and beauty, which are based on natural, freeze-dried collagen and algae biomatrices.
Dr. Suwelack Skin & Health Care AG was founded on 01.07.1997 as a spin-off of the food company Dr. Otto Suwelack Nachf. GmbH & Co. KG, which, as a freeze-drying pioneer, began developing the freeze-drying of collagen biomatrices as early as 1982. In scientific cooperation with the Clinic for Radiooncology of the University of Tübingen and funded by the BMBF (Federal Ministry for Education and Research) the company joins a project for the development of an autologous vital dermal substitute, based on a collagen matrix for the treatment of chronic wounds. Another cooperation with the University of Tübingen deals with the cellular population of collagen matrices after cultivation with human skin cells or split-skin grafts.

The company manufactures natural biomatrices for health and beauty. Product properties of collagen and plant raw materials are used for applications in cosmetics and medicine. Freeze-drying preserves the natural properties of the biomaterial, which means that preservatives are not required and enables the direct availability of the active ingredient in the application.
Examples of the company’s products: MATRICOL® , is a microporous biomatrix made of highly purified collagen, MATRIGEL® is a massage mask formed of algae derivatives and phytosqualane, MATRICUR® is an innovative slimming aid consisting of medically highly purified collagen. Currently, two collagen-based matrices are awaiting certification.
