Vascular Biogenics Ltd. (VBL) was founded in 2000, and is located in Tel Aviv. Currently, the company employs 16 people. The CEO of Vascular Biogenics, Prof. Harats, is also director of the Lipid Institute at the Sheba Medical Center and his knowledge is based on several years of academic research in the field of atherosclerosis and vascular biology. VBL has two Strategic Business Units (SBU): the Atherosclerosis Strategic Business Unit, which adresses the cardiovascular market and the Angiogenesis SBU adressing the cancer market. To achieve its goals, VBL has entered into collaborations with research groups at MIT, Harvard Medical School, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and The Pasteur Institute.

Drug development in order to treat atheriosclerosis by the local decrease of inflammation in the artery involving monotherapy or combined therapies with statins. In the cancer section, VBL promotes vascular wall targeted gene delivery systems. VBL uses anti-angiogenic gene therapy to destroy blood vessels surrounding tumours selectively.
