Ethicon was established as a separate division of Johnson & Johnson in 1949. Ethicon’s core businesses are wound management, women’s health, cardiovascular surgery and orthopaedics. The following four business division operate separately under the Ethicon umbrella: Ethicon focusing on products for wound closure and cardiovascular surgery; Gynecare, focusing on the women’s health providing solutions for gynecologic health problems; Johnson & Johnson Wound Management, providing products for skin and wound care, burn care and hemostasis; and Cardiovations, providing surgical devices that restore and improve the circulatory health of people with cardiovascular disease.
