Biomaterials in cardiovascular surgery

In cooperation with the Department of Odontology (Prof. Dr. J. Geis-Gerstorfer) and the Institute of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry (Prof. Dr. G. Gauglitz) of the University of Tübingen, Dr. Wendel works on dental titan implants and their effects on humoral, cellular and bacterial in vitro interactions. Funded by the DFG (German Research Foundation) Dr. Wendel and colleagues are investigating the compatibility and activation mechanism of biomaterials in cardiovascular surgery. The development of a cell reactor to cultivate cells is supported by the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts of the State of Baden-Württemberg.
