Results gained from research on B. henselae can provide new insights into the pathogenicity of this species. In addition, knowledge on the molecular basis of vessel proliferation in bacillary angiomatosis can be gained. In future, bacterial components of B. henselae might possibly be used for the therapeutic modulation of angiogenesis processes.
