TETEC is focusing on the production of autologous artificial tissue for reconstructive surgery and orthopaedics
TETEC AG was founded in 2000 and incorporated in 2003. TE stands for ‘tissue engineering’, TEC for ‘the innovative technologies’. The cell transplants are distributed through its cooperation partner, AESCULP AG, a medical device company based in Tuttlingen, Germany. Tetec GmbH, in cooperation with the University Hospital Tübingen and the NMI, Reutlingen, investigates the therapeutical use of adult mesenchymal stem cells for bone/cartilage replacement. This project is funded by “BioProfile Regenerative Biology”.

TETEC’s R&D activities focus on a scaffold implant technology for ACT (autologous cartilage-bone transplantation) to be applied by arthroscopic surgery, the treatment of articular cartilage defects (meniscal lesions, degenerative arthritis, osteoarthritis) and intervertebral disk lesions. TETEC AG has a manufacturing permit for NOVOCART®, an autologous chondrocyte product, in accordance with the German Drug Act. A new screening system serves to find an optimal matrix composition (matrix proteins, growth factor, biochemical signals, etc.) to improve 3D-implants.
The company’s lead product are NOVOCART, NOVOCART 3D and NOVOCART Disc used for treating complex diseases in the field of the musculoskeletal system.
