Institut de Biologie et Chimie des Proteins (IBCP)
Study of proteins in their biological context
The Institute for the Biology and Chemistry of Proteins (IBCP) is a research unit administered by the CNRS together with the Claude Bernard University Lyon I. The research programme at IBCP is focused on three areas including “membranes,
transport, signalling”, “structural biology and bioinformatics” and “extracellular matrix and tissue engineering”.

The scientific “Extracellular matrix and tissue engineering” network consists of 5 work groups, all dealing with different aspects associated with structural biology:
1) Extracellular matrix and development (Dr. Florence Ruggiero)
2) Evolution and plasticity of the extracellular matrices (Prof. Robert Garonne)
3) Matrix proteins and tissue assembly (Dr. David Hulmes, Dr. Pascal Sommer, Prof Sylvie Ricard-Blum)
4) Cartilage biology and engineering (Dr. Daniel Herbage and Dr. Frederic Mallein-Gerin)
5) Cell-matrix interactions and tissue repair (Dr. Patricia Rouselle).
