The company has a large portfolio of products and technologies that impact animal health and human nutrition. These include, for example: Currently ABN is developing a novel platform technology for oral vaccines to combat fish diseases (Saltonstall-Kennedy grant), as well as a crustacean expression system of glycosolated recombinant proteins in mass production as an alternative to mammalian and insect cell culture systems. The company’s microencapsulation technology, which is currently in development, allows the targeted delivery of viable probionts through the stomach and directly to the hind-gut of aquatic animals to improve disease resistance. In addition, ABN offers algal sources of essential fatty acids (DHA, ARA) in specialty feeds (e.g., AquaGrow) to provide enhanced health and nutritional benefits for farm animals. The company’s products contain astaxanthin, a pigment found in the natural diets of fish, which increases the immune systems of aquatic livestock.
