The laboratory of Dr. Derek van der Kooy focuses on neurobiology, especially the mammalian brain and neural stem cells, neurobiology of motivation, learning and memory genes.
The laboratory investigates i.a. the production of new neurons and glia in adult mammalian brains by focusing on adult neural stem cells and their ability to replace diseased neurons with regard to the treatment of human neurological disorders.
