Stem Cell Sciences Limited (SCS) is an Australian biotechnology company founded in 1994 by Peter Mountford in order to commercialise achievements from the Institute for Stem Cell Research (ISCR) at the University of Edinburgh and Monash University, Melbourne. The company was founded on proprietary platform technologies allowing the isolation, growth and manipulation of stem cells. Since 2000 SCS functions as a group with operations in Australia, Scotland and Japan. SCS has entered licensing agreements with international biopharmaceutical companies, including Aventis, BioTransplant Inc., Genentech and Glaxo SmithKline.

SCS is focused on technologies to grow, differentiate, select and purify embryonic stem cells. SCS owns a selection technology capable of purifying or enriching any cell type on the basis of any differentially expressed gene, to yield purified ES-derived cell cultures.
