ReInnervate was founded by Dr. Stefan A. Przyborski and spun out of the University of Durham in 2002. Dr. Stefan A. Przyborski started his business by attracting £1 mio. of research funds.

Reinnervate’s research is focused on disorders of the brain and nervous system. Dr. Przyborski is investigating the isolation, cloning and maintenance of human pluripotent stem cell lines originating from germ cell tumours. He developed procedures to manipulate human pluripotent stem cells to produce large numbers of pure human neurons. In addition, Dr. Przyborski is developing technologies to produce neural tissues from stem cells isolated from adults.
