Implant Innovations was founded in 1997 by a periodontist and an engineer in order to produce better fitting and better looking implant restorations. First implants were manufactured in 1991 and 1995 followed by the merger with Latham Manufacturing Company from which 3I arose. Biomet Inc. acquired 3i in 1999, today both companies are cooperatively developing new products and technologies such as bone substitute materials and autologous growth factors.
