Ossacur AG
Development, certification and production of resorbable implants based on native collagen
The company was founded in 1990 as an innovative biotechnology company specialised in tissue engineering. Actually, Ossacur employes 50 staff from various scientific, technical and commercial fields. Since 1999, the Danfoos Group, Denmark, is a minority shareholder. In 2004, Ossacur has received the 510 (k) registration approval for Ossaplast Ortho in the USA.

The product portfolio includes osteo-productive and osteo-conductive resorbable implants of both biological and synthetic origin for patients suffering from bone defects. The company focuses on the treatment of serious bone defects. In addition to their collagen-lyophilisates COLLOSS® and TARGOBONE®, Ossacur AG has recently introduced a bioresorbable beta-tricalcium phosphate- ceramic OSSAPLAST®. This ceramic in granula form is designed for the filling and reconstruction of bone defects. Colloss is a fully resorbable biological material for filling bone defects, made from native bone.
TARGOBONE is a combination of COLLOSS and TARGOCID, the antibiotic Teicoplanin from Aventis. TARGOBONE provides a large Teicoplanin concentration at the location of implantation over a period of several days, which counters infection with bacteria and therefore protects.
