NovaMatrix uses its technology for the production of biostructures for tissue engineering, wound healing, implants and advanced biotechnology applications. Such biostructures are e.g., alginate, chitosan and hyaluronan products. Because of the advantage that alginate gels can develop and set at constant temperature, these structures are particulary useful in applications involving fragile materials like cells or tissue with low tolerance for higher temperatures.

PRONOVA™ sodium alginates are manufactured in accordance with cGMP guidelines and are useful for the immobilisation of living cells. PROTASAN UP™ is a series of ultrapurified and well-characterised water-soluble chitosan chloride and glutamate salts, and chitosan bases. It was developed for trans-epithelial drug delivery. Sodium hyaluronate, fermented from Streptococcus zooepidemicus, can normally be found in the extracellular matrix of skin, joints, eyes and most organs and tissues of all higher animals. Its special properties like its viscosity, enables its use for new biocompatible and biointeractive materials in drug delivery, tissue engineering and viscosupplementation.
